Stuff the Bus

THE 17TH ANNUAL FRIENDLY AUTO GROUP STUFF THE BUS

With the holiday season approaching, it's our annual effort to help stock the Food Bank of the Hudson Valley, which in turn helps over 600 agencies, pantries and soup kitchens that serve families right here in our region who would otherwise go without food.

Join us and our family of iHeartMedia stations on Friday, November 21st from 6AM-8PM, Saturday, November 22nd from 8AM-8PM and Sunday, November 23rd from 8AM-Noon.

We'll be at Super Stop & Shop at the following locations:

  • In Poughkeepsie on Rt. 9 by Toys R Us, also on Burnett Boulevard in the Big Lots Plaza
  • In Wappingers on Rt. 9 in the Alpine Commons Plaza next to BJ's
  • In Newburgh on Rt. 300
  • In Hyde Park on Rt. 9

Bring your non-perishable food items and let's stuff as many buses as possible!

The 17th Annual Friendly Auto Group Stuff the Bus is proudly brought to you by Friendly Honda, Rt. 44 Poughkeepsie and Friendly Ford, Rt. 9 Poughkeepsie, Stop & Shop, Durham School Services, Foam & Wash, Camping World of the Hudson Valley, and DRA Imaging.

If you'd like to volunteer at one of our locations, please email Marlee Rutberg at MarleeRutberg@iHeartMedia.com or call for more info at 845-790-1701 and mention "Stuff the Bus Volunteer".

ALSO This year we will be focusing on the Food Bank's BackPack Program!

The mission of the BackPack Program is to help alleviate child hunger in America by providing hungry children with nutritious and easy-to-prepare food at times when other resources are not available, such as weekends. The program provides bags filled with food that is child-friendly, shelf-stable, and easily-consumed. Bags are discreetly distributed to participating children on Friday afternoons.

Since its inception in 2007, the BackPack program has expanded to 24 schools in 8 counties and is now serving over 525 children per week, providing approximately 90,000 meals per year.

Objectives:

  1. Provide nutritious, healthy food to children at-risk of hunger for preparation and consumption at their place of residence.
  2. Distribute food discreetly in easily accessible and safe environments.
