A 42 YEAR OLD MAN WAS INJURED YESTERDAY AFTER HIS

MOTORCYCLE CRASHED IN ATHENS. FIRE AND RESCUE CREWS

WERE CALLED TO THE SCENE ON LEEDS-ATHENS ROAD, NEAR

THE THRUWAY OVERPASS.

 

 

PHILMONT FIREMEN WERE CALLED TO THE PINE HAVEN

NURSING HOME SATURDAY AFTERNOON FOR A REPORTED FIRE

IN THE KITCHEN. THE SMOKE CONDITION WAS TRACED BACK

TO A REFRIGERATOR.

 

 

TANNERSVILLE FIREMEN RESPONDED TO 6350 MAIN STREET

YESTERDAY AFTER SMOKE FILLED THE TOP FLOOR. RESIDENTS

WERE EVACUATED, THE PROBLEM WAS TRACED BACK TO A 

FURNACE.

 

 

AN SUV WAS DESTROYED BY FIRE SATURDAY MORNING IN

GREENPORT. THE BLAZE WAS ON CHURCH ROAD, JUST IN FROM

ROUTE 9.

 

 

TWO GREENE COUNTY RESIDENTS FACE FELONY CHARGES AFTER

THEIR ARREST BY STATE POLICE IN SEPARATE INCIDENTS.

BOTH 35 YEAR OLD LESLIE WHITE OF CORNWALVILLE AND

33 YEAR OLD JUSTIN DOGHTY OF CLIMAX WERE CHARGED

WITH GRAND LARCENY AND WELFARE FRAUD. BOTH HAVE

SCHEDULED COURT DATES IN CATSKILL VILLAGE COURT.

 

 

AFTER A TRAFFIC STOP ON MAIN STREET IN CAIRO, A LONG

ISLAND COUPLE FACES DRUG CHARGES. 55 YEAR OLD ROBERT

HUEBER AND 52 YEAR OLD LAURA HUEBER WERE CHARGED BY

STATE POLICE WITH CRIMINAL POSESSION OF A CONTROLLED

SUBSTANCE. BOTH WILL ANSWER THE CHARGES IN COURT.

 

 

BEGINNING TODAY, RESTRICTIONS WILL BE IN PLACE FOR

HIKERS AT KAATERSKILL FALLS. STATE D E C REPORTS, A

CONSTRUCTION PROJECT AT THE SITE WILL RUN THROUGH THE 

SUMMER. THE 450 THOUSAND DOLLAR PROJECT IS EXPECTED 

TO IMPROVE SAFETY AT THE FALLS, WHERE SEVERAL HIKERS

HAVE DIED RECENTLY.

TODAY. SEVERAL COMMUNITIES HAVE PARADES SCHEDULED.

INCLUDING KINDERHOOK, EAST DURHAM, AND SAUGERTIES

AT 11AM THIS MORNING. OTHER PARADES TODAY ARE IN

TANNERSVILLE AT 3PM, AND WINDHAM AT 7PM.

 

 

THERE ARE FIREWORKS SCHEDULED FOR TONIGHT, IN

GERMANTOWN, CAIRO, EAST DURHAM, CATSKILL, WINDHAM,

AND SAUGERTIES.

 

 

ONE MAN IS BEING TREATED FOR STAB WOUNDS AT ALBANY

MED, AND A CATSKILL MAN IS FACING ASSAULT CHARGES.

STATE POLICE ARRESTED 21 YEAR OLD ISLAM JENKINS AT

THE PEPPER TREE APARTMENTS IN COXSACKIE. HE'S IN THE

GREENE COUNTY JAIL ON 30,000 DOLLARS BAIL.

 

 

AN EMPLOYEE AT THE BERKSHIRE UNION FREE SCHOOL IN

CANAAN IS IN THE COLUMBIA COUNTY JAIL, ACCUSED OF

SELLING XANAX TO TEEN RESIDENTS. 25 YEAR OLD

MICHAEL BERMAS OF TROY WAS ARRESTED BY STATE

POLICE. BAIL WAS SET AT 7500 DOLLARS.

 

 

A FULTON COUNTY MAN WAS CHARGED WITH CHILD 

ENDANGERMENT FOR ALLEGEDLY LEAVING HIS TWO CHILDREN, 

AGED 4 AND 10, ALONE IN A CATSKILL MOTEL ROOM. POLICE 

SAY THE INFORMATION CAME TO LIGHT AFTER 48 YEAR OLD 

JAMES LAING OF NORTHAMPTON WAS FOUND TO BE

INTOXICATED DURING A TRAFFIC STOP. HE'S SCHEDULED

TO APPEAR IN CATSKILL COURT. THE CHILDREN WERE TURNED

OVER TO A FAMILY MEMBER.

 

 

THE CLIMBER, WHO WAS INJURED THURSDAY AFTER FALLING

70 FEET IN ELKA PARK, WAS FROM ULSTER COUNTY.

POLICE SAY, 39 YEAR OLD CHRISTOPHER LAMME OF GARDINER

SUFFERED MULTIPLE BROKEN BONES. HE IS IN STABLE 

CONDITION AT ALBANY MED.

 

 

GREENPORT RESCUE RESPONDED TO 5TH AND COLUMBIA STREETS

IN HUDSON FRIDAY, AFTER A MAN REPORTEDLY COLLAPSED

ON THE GROUND. HE WAS TAKEN TO COLUMBIA MEMORIAL. NO

WORD THIS MORNING ON HIS CONDITION.

 

 

FIREMEN WERE CALLED TO A TRAIN FIRE YESTERDAY AFTERNOON

IN THE TOWN OF COXSACKIE. THE TRACKS WERE LOCATED ON 

RAILROAD AVENUE IN HANNACROIX.

A HIKER WAS AIRLIFTED TO ALBANY MED WITH SERIOUS 

INJURIES YESTERDAY AFTER FALLING IN GREENE COUNTY. 

IT TOOK SEVERAL FIRE COMPANIES HOURS TO RESCUE THE 

41 YEAR OLD MAN FROM A HIKING TRAIL OFF PLATT CLOVE 

ROAD IN ELKA PARK. THE MAN FELL 70 FEET. POLICE SAY 

THE MAN WAS AN EXPERIENCED CLIMBER.

 

 

THE FORMER PASTOR OF THE BIBLE BAPTIST CHURCH IN

GHENT, AND HIS WIFE, HAVE ENTERED GUILTY PLEAS

IN COLUMBIA COUNTY COURT. JAMES AND JOYCE OSBOURNE

BOTH PLED GUILTY THURSDAY TO GRAND LARCENY.

IT'S THOUGHT THE TWO STOLE UP TO 70,000 DOLLARS

FROM THE CHURCH. BOTH WILL BE SENTENCED IN

SEPTEMBER.

 

 

A 62 YEAR OLD MAN WAS TAKEN TO ALBANY MED THURSDAY

MORNING AFTER HIS MOTORCYCLE STRUCK A DEER IN

LIVINGSTON. FIRE AND RESCUE CREWS WERE CALLED TO 

ROUTE 9 AT MAPLE LANE.

 

 

EAST DURHAM FIREMEN WERE NEEDED AT THE SCENE OF A

ONE CAR ACCIDENT YESTERDAY AFTERNOON. THE CAR

ROLLED OVER ON ROUTE 145 AT SUNSIDE ROAD. THE

DRIVER WAS LUCKY TO BE UNINJURED.

 

 

A FUND HAS BEEN SET UP FOR THE FAMILY OF THE DRIVER,

WHO DIED TUESDAY NIGHT AFTER A CRASH AT LEBANON

VALLEY SPEEDWAY. THE TIMES UNION REPORTS THE 

LEBANON VALLEY RACING FAMILY'S GOAL IS 20,000

DOLLARS FOR THE FAMILY OF SHAWN RIVERS. THE

MOTORISTS HITTING THE ROAD FOR THE INDEPENDENCE

THE GOVERNOR ANNOUNCED YESTERDAY, THAT ROAD WORK,

AN AUSTERLITZ MAN IS BEING HELD IN THE COLUMBIA

COUNTY JAIL, FACING SERIOUS CHARGES IN MASSACHUSETTS.

THE COLUMBIA COUNTY SHERIFF'S OFFICE ARRESTED 28

YEAR OLD ZACHARY SANTORO ON A WARRANT FROM

PITTSFIELD DISTRICT COURT, CHARGING HIM FOR THE CRIME

OF RAPE OF A CHILD. HE'S BEING HELD WITHOUT BAIL.

 

 

A FREEHOLD WOMAN IS ACCUSED OF ALTERING 

PRESCRIPTIONS FROM HER DOCTOR BEFORE PRESENTING

THEM TO THE PHARMACY. STATE POLICE ARRESTED 38 YEAR

OLD SILVANA SHERMAN ON FELONY CHARGES. SHE WAS

SENT TO THE GREENE COUNTY JAIL ON 5000 DOLLARS

BAIL.

 

 

STATE POLICE WERE BACK AT LEBANON VALLEY SPEEDWAY

WEDNESDAY, CONTINUING THEIR INVESTIGATION INTO

THE DEATH OF SHAWN RIVERS OF CASTLETON. THE 43

YEAR OLD WAS KILLED TUESDAY NIGHT, WHEN THE WINNEBAGO

HE WAS DRIVING, AS PART OF THE PROGRAM, OVERTURNED

AND COLLAPSED. 

 

 

PART OF ROUTE 23 IN CATSKILL WAS CLOSED FOR A

PERIOD YESTERDAY AFTERNOON, AFTER A FUEL

SPILL AT THE CATSKILL FOOD MART. CATSKILL POLICE 

AND FIRE RESPONDED, JUST BEFORE 1PM. THEY WERE

ABLE TO GET THE GAS PUMP TURNED OFF.

 

 

HIKERS TO KAATERSKILL FALLS WILL BE RESTRICTED AS

TO WHERE THEY CAN GO, STARTING MONDAY. THE STATE D E C 

SAYS THE 450 THOUSAND DOLLAR CONSTRUCTION PROJECT AT 

THE FALLS WILL LIMIT HIKERS ACCESS, FOR THEIR OWN 

SAFETY. THE PROJECT IS EXPECTED TO LAST ALL SUMMER.

 

 

SENATOR CHARLES SCHUMER WAS AT THE THOMAS COLE

HISTORIC SITE IN CATSKILL YESTERDAY, LOOKING TO GET

FEDERAL FUNDING TO HELP RESTORE RECENTLY DISCOVERED

PAINTINGS BY THE ARTIST, THAT HAD BEEN PAINTED OVER.

A 460 THOUSAND DOLLAR GRANT IS BEING REQUESTED

FROM THE NATIONAL ENDOWMENT FOR THE HUMANITIES.

IT WAS A CASTLETON MAN WHO DIED LAST NIGHT IN A

CRASH AT THE LEBANON VALLEY SPEEDWAY. 43 YEAR OLD

SHAWN RIVERS WAS THE DRIVER OF A MOTOR HOME, THAT

WAS PART OF THE "EVE OF DESTRUCTION" EVENT. STATE

POLICE SAY, HE WAS STRUCK BY ANOTHER VEHICLE, WHICH 

CAUSED IT TO ROLL OVER AND COLLAPSE. HE WAS TAKEN 

TO ALBANY MED BY CHATHAM RESCUE, WHERE HE WAS 

PRONOUNCED DEAD.

STATE POLICE ARE INVESTIGATING A DEADLY ACCIDENT

LAST NIGHT AT LEBANON VALLEY SPEEDWAY. THE CRASH

TOOK PLACE DURING THE "EVE OF DESTRUCTION" EVENT,

WHICH IS A DEMOLITION DERBY TYPE EVENT, JUST AFTER 

10PM. RESCUE CREWS WORKED TO FREE THE R.V. DRIVER

WHO WAS TRAPPED IN THE VEHICLE.

 

 

THE DUTCHESS COUNTY LEGISLATOR, THAT RAN AGAINST

DIDI BARRETT LAST YEAR, FOR THE 106TH ASSEMBLY

SEAT, HAS BEEN INDICTED BY A ST. LAWRENCE COUNTY

GRAND JURY. CHARGES AGAINST MICHAEL KELSEY INCLUDE

SEXUAL ABUSE, ATTEMPTED SEXUAL ABUSE, FORCIBLE 

TOUCHING, AND ENDANGERING THE WELFARE OF A MINOR. 

THE ALLEGED INCIDENT LAST AUGUST INVOLVED KELSEY, 

A BOY SCOUT LEADER, AND TWO 15 YEAR OLD SCOUTS.

 

 

A CASE THAT BEGAN THREE YEARS AGO HAS FINALLY

ENDED IN COLUMBIA COUNTY COURT. ON FEBRUARY 22ND,

2012, MICHAEL EIGO SHOT AN ACQUAINTANCE IN THE LEG 

AT HIS GREENPORT HOME. THE MAN WAS TREATED FOR

NON-LIFE THREATENING INJURIES AT ALBANY MED. EIGO 

PLED GUILTY TO RECKLESS ENDANGERMENT CHARGES. HE WAS 

SENTENCED LAST WEEK TO FIVE YEARS PROBATION, AND 

ORDERED TO PAY 375 DOLLARS IN FINES.

 

 

SOME SCARY MOMENTS YESTERDAY AFTERNOON, WHEN A 

CAR CRASHED INTO THE RITE-AID PHARMACY IN CATSKILL. 

FIRE AND RESCUE CREWS RESPONDED TO THE STORE AT

227 WEST BRIDGE STREET, JUST AFTER 1PM.

 

 

CATSKILL POLICE HAVE CHARGED THREE VILLAGE RESIDENTS

WITH CRIMINAL POSESSION OF MARIJUANA, AFTER THEIR

ARREST ON MAIN STREET. 18 YEAR OLD DAYSEN SOUTH,

20 YEAR OLD MICHAEL CALO, AND A 17 YEAR OLD WERE

ALL ISSUED APPEARANCE TICKETS FOR COURT.

 

 

AFTER BEING CALLED TO AN ALTERCATION ON MAIN

STREET, CAIRO POLICE ARRESTED A TOWN MAN ON DRUG

CHARGES. ANGELO SALVATORE WAS CHARGED WITH CRIMINAL

POSESSION OF A CONTROLLED SUBSTANCE. HE'LL ANSWER

THE CHARGES IN TOWN COURT.

24 YEAR OLD ANTHONY VIERA WAS CHARGED BY STATE

POLICE WITH CRIMINAL IMPERSONATION AND 

OBSTRUCTION.
