A FEMALE CORRECTIONS OFFICER AT THE GREENE CORRECTIONAL
FACILITY WAS ASSAULTED OCTOBER 21ST, AND NEARLY RAPED.
THAT WAS ONE OF THE INCIDENTS HIGHLIGHTED THIS WEEK
AS THE UNION THAT REPRESENTS STATE CORRECTIONS OFFICERS
HELD SEVERAL PRESS CONFRENCES. THE NEWS CONFRENCES
TALKED ABOUT THE RISE IN INMATE ATTACKS, WHICH THE UNION
BLAMES ON THE STATE'S RECENT CLOSURE OF PRISONS.


IN RESPONSE: STATE PRISON OFFICIALS SAY THE UPSWING IN
ATTACKS HAVE NOTHING TO DO WITH THE PRISON CLOSINGS. THEY
ALSO SAY THE GREENE COUNTY INCIDENT COULD HAVE BEEN AVOIDED

THE AMTRAK WORKER WHO DIED WEDNESDAY AFTER BEING STRUCK
BY A SOUTHBOUND TRAIN IN CLERMONT HAS BEEN IDENTIFIED.
COLUMBIA COUNTY OFFICIALS SAY 41 YEAR OLD MINWELLA HAGEN
OF COXSACKIE WAS WORKING ON A SECTION OF TRACK WHEN SHE
WAS HIT BY THE TRAIN. THE N.T.S.B. CONTINUES TO INVESTIGATE
THE CAUSE OF THE ACCIDENT.


A LIVINGSTON COUNTY MAN FACES CHARGES AFTER AN INCIDENT
IN RED HOOK. STATE POLICE CHARGED 19 YEAR OLD ALEXANDER
BLUM OF DANSVILLE WITH FORCIBLE TOUCHING AND UNLAWFUL
IMPRISONMENT. HE'LL ANSWER THE CHARGES IN TOWN COURT.


FIRE DESTROYED A VEHICLE YESTERDAY MORNING IN GHENT.

FIREMEN RESPONDED TO AN APPLIANCE FIRE LAST NIGHT ON
THE MOUNTAINTOP IN GREENE COUNTY. THE CALL CAME IN
JUST BEFORE 11:30 AT 87 BRIDGE STREET IN THE
VILLAGE OF HUNTER.


AREA POLICE AGENCIES SAY THEY'LL BE OUT IN FORCE
TONIGHT FOR HALLOWEEN. THEY'RE REMINDING MOTORISTS
TO BE ALERT FOR TRICK-OR-TREATERS ON THEIR COMMUTE

ARE INVESTIGATING, THE ACCIDENT OCCURED JUST AFTER 11AM.
THE MAN WAS REPORTED TO BE AN AMTRAK SIGNAL MAINTAINER.
RAIL SERVICE WAS SUSPENDED BETWEEN ALBANY AND NEW YORK
CITY FOR THREE HOURS. THE MAN'S IDENTITY IS BEING WITHHELD
PENDING NOTIFICATION OF FAMILY.


A TRAFFIC STOP ON ROUTE 23 IN CAIRO HAS LANDED A NEW YORK
CITY WOMAN UNDER ARREST ON FELONY CHARGES. STATE POLICE
CHARGED 24 YEAR OLD ALEXIS ADAMS WITH GRAND LARCENY,
CRIMINAL POSESSION OF STOLEN PROPERTY, AND DRUG
POSESSION.


AFTER INVESTIGATION INTO A REPORTED LARCENY IN WINDHAM,
STATE POLICE HAVE ARRESTED A TOWN WOMAN. 25 YEAR OLD
JESSICA KOBIN IS CHARGED WITH FELONY GRAND LARCENY
AND FALSIFYING BUSINESS RECORDS. SHE WAS HELD ON
CASH BAIL.


TWO PEOPLE TAKEN TO COLUMBIA MEMORIAL AFTER THEIR CARS
COLLIDED ON WARREN STREET WEDNESDAY AFTERNOON. THE CRASH
WAS ON THE 700 BLOCK.


AN ACCIDENT CLOSED PART OF ROUTE 9 IN LIVINGSTON
FOR TWO HOURS YESTERDAY. FIRE AND RESCUE CREWS WERE
CALLED AFTER A CAR STRUCK A UTILITY POLE, BRINGING DOWN
WIRES.


THERE WERE NO INJURIES REPORTED AFTER A VEHICLE CRASHED
INTO A PORCH YESTERDAY MORNING IN CAIRO. THE ACCIDENT
WAS ON ROUTE 23 NEAR MAIN STREET.

A MAN JUMPED TO HIS DEATH YESTERDAY MORNING FROM
THE COLUMBIA COUNTY SIDE OF THE RIP VAN WINKLE BRIDGE.
MULTIPLE POLICE UNITS, ALONG WITH GREENPORT FIRE
AND RESCUE WERE CALLED TO THE STRUCTURE JUST BEFORE
7AM. THE VICTIM WAS PRONOUNCED DEAD AT THE SCENE.


THE ENGINEER AT THE CONTROLS OF THE METRO NORTH
TRAIN THAT CRASHED LAST DECEMBER IN THE BRONX, KILLING
FOUR PEOPLE, FELL ASLEEP AT THE CONTROLS. IN A REPORT
RELEASED YESTERDAY BY THE N.T.S.B, THEY SAY WILLIAM
ROCKEFELLER OF GERMANTOWN HAD AN UNDIAGNOSED DISORDER,
SLEEP APNEA, AND A DRASTIC SHIFT IN HIS WORK SCHEDULE.

BURN ON MONDAY. FIREMEN WERE ON THE SCENE FOR TWO AND
A HALF HOURS.


CRARYVILLE FIREMEN ALSO FOUGHT A BRUSH FIRE TUESDAY.
IT INVOLVED A LAWN TRACTOR, AND WAS AT 312 SKY FARM
ROAD IN THE TOWN OF COPAKE.


A 20 YEAR OLD WOMAN WAS TREATED FOR INJURIES AFTER
HER CAR ROLLED OVER TUESDAY MORNING IN ATHENS. THE ACCIDENT
WAS ON GREEN LAKE ROAD.


GREENE COUNTY SENIOR CITIZENS ARE BEING ALERTED THAT
THE COUNTY EMERGENCY SERVICES DEPARTMENT WILL BE TESTING
THE CODE RED SYSTEM TODAY. THE PHONE CALLS WILL ANNOUNCE
THAT IT IS ONLY A TEST.

REPORTED THE FIVE. THE RED CROSS IS ASSISTING FIVE
OCCUPANTS OF THE HOME. 12 DOGS REPORTEDLY DIED
IN THE BLAZE. THE GREENE COUNTY FIRE INVESTIGATION
TEAM IS WORKING ON THE CAUSE.


AN EMPLOYEE AT THE RIP VAN WINKLE BRIDGE WAS RUSHED
TO ALBANY MED YESTERDAY, FOLLOWING AN ACCIDENT.
BRIDGE AUTHORITY OFFICIALS SAY THE MAN WAS PINNED
BETWEEN A TRUCK AND A FENCE. HE WAS SAID TO HAVE
BROKEN RIBS.


A 23 YEAR OLD WOMAN IS BEING TREATED FOR INJURIES
AFTER SHE FELL FROM A HORSE MONDAY AFTERNOON. LANESVILLE
FIREMEN, TANNERSVILLE RESCUE, AND HUNTER AMBULANCE ALL
RESPONDED TO 188 DIAMOND NOTCH ROAD. THE WOMAN
WAS REPORTEDLY UNABLE TO MOVE AFTER THE ACCIDENT.


SOME SCARY MOMENTS YESTERDAY MORNING WHEN A BUS
STRUCK A DEER ON ROUTE 23 IN GREENPORT. THERE WERE
NO INJURIES ON THE BUS, BUT GREENPORT FIREMEN WERE
NEEDED AT THE SCENE, NEAR COLUMBIA GREENE COMMUNITY
COLLEGE, DUE TO A FUEL LEAK CAUSED BY THE ACCIDENT.


A CATSKILL MAN IS ACCUSED OF STEALING 31,000 DOLLARS
FROM A WOODSTOCK COUPLE, WHILE ACTING AS A FINANCIAL
ADVISOR. 29 YEAR OLD ALEEM SEECHAN WAS CHARGED BY
STATE POLICE WITH GRAND LARCENCY.


ONE PERSON WAS TAKEN TO MID HUDSON REGIONAL HOSPITAL
MONDAY MORNING, FOLLOWING A ONE CAR ACCIDENT IN PINE
PLAINS. FIRE AND RESCUE CREWS WERE CALLED AFTER A
CAR STRUCK A UTILITY POLE ON ROUTE 199.


A 27 YEAR OLD WOMAN HAD MINOR INJURIES AFTER A TWO
CAR ACCIDENT IN GREENPORT YESTERDAY. THE CRASH WAS
ON ROUTE 23B AT NEWMAN ROAD.

CITY EARLY SATURDAY MORNING. THEY REPORT, A 21 YEAR
OLD HUDSON MAN WAS SHOT IN THE LOWER BACK ON FIRST
STREET AROUND 2:45AM. THE VICTIM WAS TREATED AND
RELEASED FROM COLUMBIA MEMORIAL. POLICE SAY, NO
WITNESSES HAVE COME FORWARD AND THE VICTIM IS
NOT COOPERATING WITH DETECTIVES. ANYONE WITH
INFORMATION IS ASKED TO CALL HUDSON POLICE AT

AN ALBANY MAN IS ACCUSED OF BEING IN POSESSION OF
A STOLEN CAR IN THE TOWN OF CATSKILL. 18 YEAR
OLD ETHAN RECK WAS ARRESTED ON UNDERHILL ROAD.
HE WAS CHARGED WITH FELONY-CRIMONAL POSESSION OF
STOLEN PROPERTY AND HELD ON 500 DOLLARS BAIL.


TWO GREENE COUNTY MEN FACE CHARGES IN CONNECTION
WITH SEPARATE DOMESTIC INCIDENTS OVER THE WEEKEND.
STATE POLICE CHARGED 49 YEAR OLD MARK THOBURN
OF GREENVILLE WITH ASSAULT AND CRIMINAL OBSTRUCTION
OF BREATHING. 56 YEAR OLD SCOTT BALFE WAS
CHARGED WITH ASSAULT, CRIMINAL MISCHEIF, AND
CHILD ENDANGERMENT.


FIRE AND RESCUE CREWS RESPONDED TO TWO PERSONAL
INJURY CAR ACCIDENTS SATURDAY IN GREENE COUNTY.
THE FIRST WAS IN THE SOUTHBOUND LANES OF THE THRUWAY
IN NEW BALTIMORE. LATER THAT DAY CREWS WERE
CALLED TO ROUTE 23C IN LEXINGTON.


TRI-VILLAGE FIREMEN AND CHATHAM RESCUE WERE
CALLED TO A HOME ON ROUTE 66 IN THE TOWN OF CHATHAM
AFTER RESIDENTS REPORTED, HAVING SYMPTOMS OF
CARBON MONOXIDE POISONING. FIREMEN REPORTED
ELEVATED LEVELS OF C.O. IN THE BUILDING. IT WAS
VENTILATED AND THE FURNACE COMPANY NOTIFIED.
