ONE PERSON WAS TAKEN TO NORTHERN DUTCHESS HOSPITAL

AFTER A THREE CAR ACCIDENT FRIDAY MORNING IN GREENPORT. 

FIRE AND RESCUE CREWS WERE CALLED TO THE ROUTE 9 AND

23 INTERSECTION. THE WOMAN REPORTEDLY HAD CHEST

PAINS. 

 

 

POLICE WERE CALLED CALLED TO ROUTE 32 IN FREEHOLD

YESTERDAY AFTERNOON AFTER A CAR STRUCK A UTILITY

POLE NEAR HUNTINGTON DRIVE. ACCORDING TO THE DRIVER,

THE ACCIDENT WAS CAUSED BY ANOTHER VEHICLE, WHICH

LEFT THE SCENE.

 

 

POLICE IN GREENE COUNTY WERE ALSO LOOKING FOR A

TRUCK IN LEEDS, THAT LOST PART OF IT'S LOAD, BREAKING

THE WINDSHIELD OF A CAR BEHIND IT. THE ACCIDENT

REPORTEDLY OCCURED ON ROUTE 9W.

 

 

A CATSKILL MAN WAS CHARGED WITH FELONY CRIMINAL

CONTEMPT, FOR ALLEGEDLY VIOLATING AN ORDER OF 

PROTECTION. STATE POLICE ALSO CHARGED 49 YEAR OLD

WARREN GRAFF WITH HARASSMENT. HE WAS HELD ON CASH 

BAIL.

 

 

A CLAVERACK MAN WAS ALSO CHARGED WITH CRIMINAL

CONTEMPT, IN A SEPARATE INCIDENT. HUDSON POLICE SAY

69 YEAR OLD MARTIN DAVIDSON SENT THE VICTIM AN E-MAIL.

HE WAS SENT TO THE COLUMBIA COUNTY JAIL ON 1500

DOLLARS BAIL.

 

 

WITH ONLY FIVE DAYS OF BELL RINGING LEFT, THE HUDSON

SALVATION ARMY STILL HAS A LONG WAY TO GO TO MEET

THEIR RED KETTLE GOAL. THEY REPORT THAT 33,000 

DOLLARS HAS BEEN RAISED SO FAR, WITH 23 THOUSAND

TO GO BEFORE NEXT WEDNESDAY. THEY CAN STILL USE

THE AMBER ALERT FOR THE CAPITAL REGION ENDED IN TRAGEDY

OVERNIGHT, AS POLICE REPORT A K-9 UNIT FOUND THE BODY 

OF 5 YEAR OLD KENNETH WHITE NEAR THE TRAILER WHERE

HE WAS ABDUCTED IN EAST BERNE, ALBANY COUNTY.

SHERIFF CRAIG APPLE SAYS AUTHORITIES HAVE A  PERSON

OF INTREST IN THE CASE.

 

 

A NEW AGREEMENT BETWEEN COLUMBIA MEMORIAL HOSPITAL AND

THE DEPARTMENT OF VETERAN'S AFFAIRS WILL IMPROVE AND

EXPAND SERVICES FOR VETERANS IN COLUMBIA AND GREENE 

COUNTIES. IT WAS ANNOUNCED YESTERDAY THAT THE V.A. CLINIC

IN THE GREENE MEDICAL ARTS BUILDING IN CATSKILL WILL

BE RENOVATED AND EXPANDED, STARTING NEXT FEBRUARY.  

500,000 DOLLARS HAS BEEN ALLOCATED FOR THE PROJECT.

 

 

LISA FISHER WAS CEREMONIALLY SWORN IN YESTERDAY AS A

NEW STATE SUPREME COURT JUSTICE IN THE 3RD JUDICIAL 

DISTRICT. THE CEREMONY WAS HELD AT THE GREENE COUNTY

COURTHOUSE. SHE WILL BE THE FIRST FEMALE JUDGE IN

THE DISTRICT, IN OVER A DECADE, WHEN SHE BEGINS HER

14 YEAR TERM NEXT MONTH.

 

 

A HUDSON MAN WAS SENT TO THE COLUMBIA COUNTY JAIL ON

DRUG CHARGES. CITY POLICE ARRESTED 42 YEAR OLD JERMAIN

MOORE ON A WARRANT. HE'S CHARGED WITH CRIMINAL POSESSION

OF A CONTROLLED SUBSTANCE, WITH INTENT TO SELL, AND

MARIJUANA POSESSION. THE ARREST FOLLOWS AN INVESTIGATION

IN NOVEMBER.

 

 

A 31 YEAR OLD WOMAN WAS INJURED YESTERDAY MORNING IN

A TWO CAR ACCIDENT IN CRARYVILLE. FIRE AND RESCUE

CREWS WERE ON THE SCENE, ON ROUTE 23 AT COUNTY ROUTE

11A, JUST BEFORE 8AM.

 

 

COLUMBIA COUNTY LEADS ALL HUDSON VALLEY COUNTIES IN

JOB GROWTH OVER THE LAST 12 MONTHS. ACCORDING TO

NUMBERS FROM THE STATE LABOR DEPARTMENT, COLUMBIA

COUNTY SAW AN INCREASE OF 2.4 PERCENT OVER LAST

NOVEMBER. GREENE COUNTY WAS UP AS WELL, WITH A 2.1

PERCENT GROWTH.

TWO CAPITAL AREA MEN ARE FACING FELONY RAPE CHARGES

FROM A REPORTED SEXUAL ASSAULT AT A PRIVATE RESIDENCE

IN THE TOWN OF COXSACKIE. 19 YEAR OLD MUHAMMAD MILLS

OF ALBANY AND 20 YEAR OLD ANTHONY CHANDLER OF TROY

WERE ARRESTED BY STATE POLICE. BOTH WERE ARRAIGNED

IN COXSACKIE TOWN COURT.

 

 

TWO OF THE FOUR MISSING RESIDENTS FROM BERKSHIRE FARMS

IN CANAAN HAVE BEEN LOCATED. STATE POLICE SAY THEY ARE

STILL LOOKING FOR 15 YEAR OLD TAYVON LAUGER AND 16

YEAR OLD JOSE HENRIQUEZ. ANYONE WITH INFORMATION

NEWLY ELECTED STATE SUPREME COURT JUSTICE LISA FISHER

IS BEING SWORN IN TODAY. CONGRESSMAN CHRIS GIBSON

AT THE GREENE COUNTY COURTHOUSE.

 

 

A PROTEST WAS HELD ON MAIN STREET IN CATSKILL YESTERDAY

AFTERNOON. C.S.E.A LOCAL 820 SAYS THEY HAVE NO LABOR

CONTRACT WITH GREENE COUNTY. THEY'RE ALSO OPPOSED 

TO THE COUNTY'S PROPOSED HEALTH INSURANCE PLAN.

 

 

STARTING NEXT FALL, COLUMBIA GREENE COMMUNITY COLLEGE

WILL BE A TOBACCO FREE CAMPUS. THE COLLEGE BOARD OF

TRUSTEES PASSED A RESOLUTIION, THAT INCLUDES ALL

CAMPUS BUILDINGS AND GROUNDS. THE POLICE GOES INTO

EFFECT SEPTEMBER 1ST OF NEXT YEAR.

 

 

WITH ONLY A WEEK TO GO, THE HUDSON SALVATION ARMY

HAS A LONG WAY TO MEET THEIR RED KETTLE GOAL. THEY

REPORT, JUST OVER 30,000 DOLLARS RAISED. THAT LEAVES

26,000 TO GO BY THE END OF NEXT WEDNESDAY. VOLUNTEER

FIRE CAUSED CONSIDERABLE DAMAGE TO A HILLSDALE HOME

OVERNIGHT. SEVERAL FIRE COMPANIES WERE CALLED TO 700

HARLEMVILLE ROAD JUST AFTER 1:30AM. THERE WERE NO

REPORTED SEVERE INJURIES. THE CAUSE IS UNDER 

INVESTIGATION.

 

 

THE DUTCHESS COUNTY MAN, WHO RAN AGAINST DIDI BARRETT

FOR THE SEAT IN THE 106TH ASSEMBLY DISTRICT IS ACCUSED

OF INAPPROPRIATELY TOUCING TWO 15 YEAR OLD BOYS 

DURING A BOY SCOUT TRIP IN AUGUST, IN THE ADIRONDACKS.

36 YEAR OLD MICHAEL KELSEY IS CHARGED WITH SEXUAL

ABUSE, FORCIBLE TOUCHING, AND CHILD ENDANGERMENT. 

HE WAS RELEASED AFTER POSTING 2500 DOLLARS BAIL.

 

 

TWO OF THE FOUR HUDSON MEN CHARGED LAST DECEMBER WITH 

FOOD STAMP FRAUD WERE FOUND GUILTY IN U.S. DISTRICT 

COURT IN ALBANY. 37 YEAR OLD MOFADDAL MURSHED AND

54 YEAR OLD AHMED ALGAHAIM FACE UP TO FIVE YEARS

IN PRISON WHEN THEY ARE SENTENCED IN APRIL. 

THE TWO OTHER MEN CHARGED A YEAR AGO, 35 YEAR OLD

FAISAL MORSHED AND 25 YEAR OLD IBRAHIM MURSHED

PLED GUILTY TO THE CHARGES. THE FOUR WORKED AT THE

D AND D DELI ON 5TH STREET.

 

 

DUE TO THE SPREAD OF FLU ACROSS THE STATE, VISITOR

RESTRICTIONS GO INTO EFFECT ON FRIDAY AT COLUMBIA

MEMORIAL HOSPITAL. THOSE INCLUDE: 

-A MAXIMUM OF TWO VISITORS IN A PATIENTS ROOM AT A TIME.

-CHILDREN UNDER 12 ARE PROHIBITED FROM A PATIENT'S ROOM.

-VISITORS WITH FLU SYMPTOMS ARE PROHIBITED

-VISITORS ARE URGED TO WASH THEIR HANDS BEFORE ENTERING

A PATIENT'S ROOM.

A 19 YEAR OLD WOMAN WAS TAKEN TO COLUMBIA MEMORIAL.

 

 

ANOTHER 19 YEAR OLD WOMAN HAD MINOR INJURIES AFTER HER 

CAR ROLLED OVER IN TAGHKANIC YESTERDAY AFTERNOON. THE 

ACCIDENT WAS ON COUNTY ROUTE 15.

 

 

A MAN WAS TAKEN TO COLUMBIA MEMORIAL WEDNESDAY MORNING 

AFTER A TWO CAR ACCIDENT ON COUNTY ROUTE 14 IN GREENPORT.

HIS VEHICLE ROLLED OVER, AFTER COLLIDING WITH ANOTHER CAR.

A ONE CAR ACCIDENT CLOSED THE EASTBOUND LANES OF

ROUTE 23 IN LEEDS YESTERDAY MORNING. FIRE AND RESCUE

CREWS WORKED TO FREE THE 70 YEAR OLD DRIVER AFTER

HIS VEHICLE ROLLED OVER NEAR THE NATIONAL GUARD 

ARMORY.

 

 

ANOTHER SERIOUS ACCIDENT LAST NIGHT IN COPAKE.

THREE PEOPLE WERE TAKEN TO AREA HOSPITALS AFTER THE

HEAD-ON COLLISION ON COUNTY ROUTE 7A AT TWIN BRIDGES 

ROAD. FIRE AND RESCUE CREWS WERE ON THE SCENE FOR

OVER 90 MINUTES.

 

 

A STOTTVILLE MAN IS FACING DRUG CHARGES AFTER HIS

ARREST BY THE COLUMBIA COUNTY SHERIFF'S OFFICE.

46 YEAR OLD STANLEY BANCROFT JUNIOR IS CHARGED WITH

CRIMINAL POSESION OF A CONTROLLED SUBSTANCE. POLICE

SAY HE WAS IN POSESSION OF CRACK COCAINE.

 

 

A STOCKPORT TEEN WAS HANDED A LONG LIST OF CHARGES

AFTER AN ACCIDENT ON ROUTE 9 AT DAY ROAD. 16 YEAR

OLD DANIEL REPKO WAS CHARGED WITH UNAUTHORIZED USE

OF A VEHICLE, DRIVING WITHOUT A LICENSE, RECKLESS

DRIVING, LEAVING THE SCENE OF AN ACCIDENT, AND

NUMEROUS VEHICLE AND TRAFFIC CHARGES. 

 

 

CRIME VICTIMS CAN NOW BE ALERTED BY A TEXT MESSAGE,

IF THERE IS A CHANGE IN THE CUSTODY STATUS OF AN

OFFENDER BEING HELD AT A COUNTY CORRECTIONAL FACILITY 

IN NEW YORK STATE. COLUMBIA COUNTY SHERIFF DAVID 

BARTLETT SAYS THIS NEW FEATURE IS AN ENHANCEMENT TO 

THE NEW YORK SHERIFF'S VICTIM HOTLINE. 

 

 

STATE POLICE ARE LOOKING FOR THE OWNER OF SOME POWER

TOOLS, THAT WERE LOCATED OFF COUNTY ROUTE 10 IN

TAGHKANIC, BACK IN JUNE. THEY SAY, THE TOOLS WERE 

ABANDONED BY TWO WHITE MALES, DRIVING A WHITE
